VENEERS

Veneers are very thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials which cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. This is a cosmetic treatment and has become hugely popular in recent years. Although it’s a big procedure, veneers will give you that perfect Hollywood smile that so many people long for.

Veneers can be fitted for a number of reasons:

  • To improve the overall appearance of your teeth.
  • They can change the colour, shape, size, length and even position of your natural teeth. Some people opt for just one or two veneers whereas others go for a full set if they’re looking to completely transform their smile.
  • To correct poorly formed or mildly mal-positioned teeth.
  • To close any gaps.
  • To mask internal stains.
  • To restore partially broken-down teeth.

VENEERS FAQs

A couple of visits are required because the first step is to prepare the tooth or teeth and get a perfect colour match. On your second visit, the veneer will be bonded using a special adhesive which holds it firmly into place.

Please note that because it’s necessary to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate the shell, this is an irreversible treatment.  Before your veneer is bonded however, your dentist will show you what it looks like on your tooth to make sure that you’re completely happy with it.

The cost of veneers can vary hugely depending on the treatment required and how many you would like. We will always give you a final cost before starting any dental work.

The better you look after them, the longer your veneers will last. Practicing good dental hygiene at home as well as visiting your dentist on a regular basis will prolong their life and ensure they stay looking great.

Just like natural teeth, veneers can chip or break. They can be repaired or if the damage is more severe, a new one can be fitted.
